We are very flexible when offering our tours – here you will find the maximum programmes of every route. We can always adjust the focus and the length. The recommend group size for the guided tour is max 30 people in one group (except bus tours) – that way, everybody will get a better visiting experience. Bigger groups are divided into two separate tour groups.
We offer four different tours in the following languages: Estonian, English, Finnish and Russian.
1. THE EXCITING STORY OF PÕLTSAMAA
The new gate building of Põltsamaa castle introduces history of the area on three floors – you can find interesting exhibits, findings, games and a small cinema hall here.
During the gate building tour, we will learn about the history of Põltsamaa, including king Magnus, the king of Livonian Kingdom. In the cinema hall, we will see a short move about Põltsamaa and its rulers during different eras. Also, we will talk about interesting fondings – for example, recently, a sword that dates mack into the 15th century, was found from the moat surrounding the castle. We will also have a virtual dinner with castle owners of different centuries.

We advise to plan an extra hour after the guided tour, so you can explore two museum houses at you own pace:
- The gate building – explore exhibits, play games, read the texts in more detail.
- The old museum house – see the exhibitions of Põltsamaa wine and food. This also includes the first space food – tube food that was made here in Põltsamaa
Visiting both houses is included in the museum ticket.
2. FROM THE ORDER FORT TO ROCOCO CASTLE
During this tour, we will get an overview of Põltsamaa fort, established by the German Order, and will visit EELC Põltsamaa Niguliste church, which is built on a former canon tower. We will learn about the castle story and people, who played an important role here. Also, we will visit our thematic rococo hall and talk about the findings of Põltsamaa.
